Sir Peter Blake is a godfather of pop art, and has a long history of creating art that is accessible and affordable beyond the rarefied world of galleries. From the album art for Sgt. Pepper to decades of joyful sculpture, collage and painting, he’s just the real deal.
It was a privilege to be involved in the creation of a collaboration between himself and the equally iconic brand Budweiser. Sometimes it’s less a case of ‘strategy’ than stepping aside to let the talent be the talent. Using his beloved iconography of simple hearts, stars and colours his work made the cans truly ‘pop’.
This work was commenced while I was still leading design strategy for JKR and almost a decade later it finally got produced. Tenacious clients are the best. As are tenacious agencies – good job JKR :)
