Silas Amos
Design Thought

Ramona’s Heavenly Houmous tastes amazing – a lot of love and care goes into the product. And the designs clashing colours marked them out as a brand with spirit. But the previous branding lacked both distinctiveness and the warm personality of founder (and living embodiment of the brand) Ramona Hazan.

The design strategy was to introduce a mascot who could embody their spirit as a ‘bringer of plenty’. When you are called ‘heavenly’ it makes sense to invoke the mythic. And the design was intended to carry all the personality and craft one might expect from a brand which really puts its heart into the things it makes.

Since redesign Ramona’s has become the number 1 selling houmous brand in the UK.

"Ramona’s worked with Silas and his team on our packaging refresh, which was a very high profile and important project. Straight from the off Silas and the team added real value to our thinking. They challenged us along the way, and when we needed an assertive creative voice they gave it.

Silas was also vital in helping the internal sell-in to key stakeholders - a crucial part of the process. We are absolutely delighted with the design which is on shelf, it has craft & soul, it has shelf standout, it has massively improved our key visual assets…and it has helped us to become the UK’s No.1 branded houmous."
